All 50 states and Washington, D.C., have declared a state of emergency; compare state actions to reduce the spread of the virus

Local and state public health officials have restricted and closed schools, private businesses and mass transit systems in an effort to control the spread of COVID-19.

In addition to canceling political rallies and public gatherings, in some areas they have called up the National Guard, suspended medical licensing laws and protected doctors from liability claims, and quarantined or isolated people who might infect others.
