City App Speeds Up Code Enforcement

The app allows code enforcement officers to upload photographs of inspected sites directly into case files after taking those photos with their smartphones

Independence, Mo. -When David Dickerson, veteran code enforcement officer for the Independence Health Department, heads out to conduct inspections, he’ll travel to several parcels before returning to the office.

If he leaves a violation notice at an occupied house, there’s a chance John or Jane Q. Citizen will return and pose a question before Dickerson gets back to the office.

Thanks to an app developed by the city’s technology services department, that question can get answered back at the Health Department office – quickly and without nearly as much hassle as before.
