PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The city of Pensacola, Fla., has been experiencing a cyberattack since Friday and disconnected several city services until the issue is resolved.
Mayor Grover Robinson’s office said officials were not sure if the attack was related to Friday’s shooting at Pensacola Naval Air Station which left three sailors dead.
It’s really too early to say one way or another. We are still assessing this,” Kaycee Lagarde, a spokeswoman for the mayor, told CNN.
“We understand that it’s on people’s mind but we just don’t know at this point,” Lagarde added.
Officials said that city emails and phones, 311 customer service and online payments were affected. 911 and emergency services were still functioning properly.
Lagarde did not provide an estimate as to when the affected services would return or when the city would next update the public.
The city said the matter was referred to the FBI and Homeland Security as a precaution.
The FBI announced late Monday that it had not found a connection between the shooting and the cyber incident but would continue investigating.
