LOUISVILLE, K.Y. --The pilot PNC Gigabit Experience Center by PNC Foundation, Next Century Cities, Living Cities and the Louisville Metropolitan Housing Authority has opened in the Louisville.
Located in a development of Louisville Central Community Centers (LCCC), a former settlement house under National Federation of Settlement Houses, the new Gigabit Experience Center provides access to wireless super-fast internet speeds in a collaborative setting.
The center will have laptops available for use there, free of charge. The city, LCCC and other partners also plan to offer technology courses and related events at the center.
The growth of Louisville’s digital economy must be inclusive of all residents no matter their ZIP code -- for the budding entrepreneurs and innovators of today and for the families of tomorrow,” Mayor Greg Fischer said.
Google Fiber is also preparing construction in the city, and is expected to bring enhanced access across the city’s digital divide.
