SOLON, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation is granting $100,000 for $3 million Cochran Road reconstruction.
The grant is part of ODOT’s Jobs and Commerce Economic Development Program – which seeks out projects that will “help Ohioans go to work by providing transportation infrastructure.”
Cochran Road is considered the core of Solon’s industrial district. The city estimates more than 2,000 employees use the Cochran/Harper corridor each day.
The project will be completed in two phases, since “the area generates too much traffic to be disrupted at one time,” city engineer John Busch said. The first phase expected to be completed this summer,
The project involves a complete reconstruction of the concrete roadway, soil borings and the survey work. The city has paid the engineering firm of Burgess and Niple of Painsville $178,000 to develop the plans.
