Free Government Security Summit Addresses Policy, Procurement

SIA’s government security summit, June 26-27, 2019, in Washington, D.C., features DHS’s Christopher Krebs and other speakers addressing government security on local, state and federal levels.

SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND – The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced that the 2019 SIA GovSummit, its annual public policy and government security technology conference, will be held June 26-27, 2019 in Washington, D.C.

The event brings together government security leaders and private industry technologists for information sharing and education on security topics affecting federal, state and local agencies.

Day 1 of SIA GovSummit 2019 will be held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center and gather a variety of public- and private-sector professionals, including federal agency employees, military and law enforcement personnel and technology executives, to examine:

  • Emerging policy trends
  • Government technology needs
  • Changes in the risk environment that shape development of products
  • Advanced systems integration to meet evolving security challenges

The keynote speakers are Christopher Krebs, the undersecretary for critical infrastructure at DHS, and Soraya Correa, chief procurement officer for DHS. Sessions will address how technologies like cloud, artificial intelligence and machine learning are used for security.

Topics for discussion include:

  • New policies and legislation impacting security
  • Evolving federal acquisition priorities
  • Emerging technology for public safety and homeland security
  • Government standards driving adoption of security technology

This event is free for all government employees, including U.S. and international federal, state, county and municipal-level staff, plus all military, law enforcement and public safety personnel.

SIA members will have the opportunity to visit congressional offices on Capitol Hill on Day 2 of GovSummit.
