In the world of videos produced by state or local governments, state departments of transportation seem that they get to work with some of most visually stimulating activities to profile: Road construction.
Earlier this year, the Utah Department of Transportation posted time-lapse videos of the demolition of a highway bridge along Interstate 15 south of Salt Lake City.
This week, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation got in on the action with two videos of construction work on a highway bridge in the Harrisburg area—one video for the bridge’s demolition and removal and the other for the quick installation of the new bridge span using pre-assembled structural sections.
The work is being carried out over four weekends, which, as The Patriot-News reported in late May, “is an impossibly tight schedule. And were it not for almost a year’s worth of prep work, it would be impossible to carry off.”
