Improving Safety Through Art with $1M Grant

Spartanburg is among four winners of a $1 million grant for a public art project

SPARTANBURG, S.C. —Spartanburg is among four winners of a $1 million grant for a public art project.

The money is from the Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge.

More than 230 cities applied. The other winners are Gary, Indiana, a three-city collaborative in Upstate New York and Los Angeles.

“We just won $1 million,” Spartanburg Mayor Junie White shouted during the city’s announcement at the Chapman Cultural Center.
