Alliant Energy is offering grants to help fund life-saving equipment and services to towns and non-profits in Iowa and Wisconsin. Through awarded Hometown Safety Grants, recipients can use the funds for one-time safety related projects, such as:

  • Jaws of Life
  • Thermal-imaging cameras
  • A community emergency alert system
  • Personal protective equipment for public safety providers

Awards range from $500 to $2,000, but the amount of the grant cannot exceed more than half of the total project being funded. For example, a $1,000 grant is the maximum that can be awarded for a project costing $2,000.

In 2017, Hometown Safety Grants were awarded to 58 organizations totaling $65,000.

Eligible projects will be utilized by people living within the Alliant Energy service territory, and be either a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, or a governmental unit, town, village, city or an accredited school, college or university.

Projects must be completed or equipment must be purchased within a one-year period after receiving a Hometown Safety Grant.

Applications are accepted three times a year. The window to apply for the next round of grants will open on April 1, and all submissions must be received by midnight on May 1.
