ATLANTIC CITY — A newly approved federal grant will keep the city’s firefighter ranks where they stand.
The $21.5 million Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response, or SAFER, grant will pay for 85 firefighters for the next two years.
“I heard the terrific news today,” Mayor Don Guardian tweeted Wednesday.
“It’s another great win for Atlantic City on its way back,” said Fire Union President Chris Emmell. “It’s a great day for 85 families and the Fire Department as a whole to be able to be at the level of service where it’s supposed to be.”
