The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Office of Justice Programs is offering Justice Assistance Grants (JAG grants) to JAG-eligible communities for equipment and technology.

Funding supports law enforcement, prosecution and court programs as well as prevention and education, corrections, drug treatment and more. The goal of the funding program is to leverage resources that can make a significant impact. BJA’s key priorities are designed to address the challenges that have the greatest impacts on the criminal justice system–ensuring sixth amendment rights, undiagnosed and untreated mental illness, more accurate and complete crime reporting, enforcing existing firearms laws, increasing transparency and building community trust and more.

Applications could address equipment or technology solutions that help efforts to:

  • Reduce gun violence
  • Reuce recidivism
  • Provide indigent defense
  • Improve mental health services
  • Support evidence-based smart programs
  • Upgrade justice systems
  • Explore body-worn cameras programs

Allocations to JAG-eligible communities are at least $10,000 by law.

Chief local government officials or their designees must submit applications for JAG funds. Administrations are responsible for distributing JAG funds, monitoring the awards, submitting quarterly financial status and providing performance metrics reports and other requirements.

BJA is currently accepting applications until June 30.

Find out if your community is JAG-eligible and your allocation with BJA’s interactive map.
