SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- State health officials in Texas, Florida and other Gulf Coast states are putting their heads together to prepare for potential local outbreaks.
In the absence of federal funding and coordination, cities like San Antonio and New Orleans, La. are getting ready. They are drafting response plans with state counterparts, setting up labs so they can test blood samples quickly and educating the public about how to reduce mosquito breeding on their properties.
San Antonio is asking residents to help reduce Zika risk. In an effort to get ahead of what mosquito season could bring, the city of San Antonio Office of Emergency Management released this public service announcement.
