Louisville’s Cultural Council aims to expand art programming citywide through an inaugural grant supporting local artists and organizations.
Applications will be accepted through Jan. 20 for the Louisville Arts Grant Program, which will provide up to $2,500 and/or space at the Louisville Center for the Arts to a handful of community projects and programs.
Mark Oberholzer, chairman of the Cultural Council, said the program was launched as a way to support the art community and reduce demand on the council’s 10 members.
“We were getting burned out,” said Oberholzer, who is wrapping up his three-year term at the end of the year. “A lot of what we’re looking to do is collaboration to expand what’s happening without adding more people or more time and without burning ourselves out.”
