HBO’s political satirist John Oliver uses U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Centers for Disease Control data to call out Congress on dwindling lead abatement funds for homeowners.

Of particular note are homeowners that can’t afford to abate the lead in aging homes.

So most people with lead problems are stuck in homes they can’t leave and doing their best to avoid danger,” Oliver pointed out. “Which may sound familiar because it’s the plot of every [expletive] horror movie ever made!”

To drive his point that Congress has been watching over this problem for many years, Oliver pulled footage from 1970s era Sesame Street educating children about lead paint.

The clip on YouTube has had more than 4 million views since the show aired last month.
