The Santander Bank, N.A. Charitable Contributions Program offers between $10,000 and $100,000 for affordable housing grants, economic development and financial education nationwide.

For 2017, Santander is making up to $1 million available exclusively to mission-aligned community development financial institutions (CDFIs) that work to stabilize neighborhoods, support vulnerable populations and help small businesses prosper. Projects that strengthen and stabilize low- to moderate income (LMI) neighborhoods are sought after.

  • Neighborhood stabilization and wealth building programs that promote neighborhood revitalization and family stability including foreclosure prevention programs, efforts to mitigate displacement resulting from neighborhood change and programs that provide LMI households with education, financial coaching and access to wealth building opportunities.
  • Diverse small business support that promotes economic development through small business including second look referral programs, lending circles or peer-to-peer small business lending groups, increasing loan loss reserve funds to cover the additional cost of expanding lending programs to diverse small businesses, operating costs to increase lending, training and technical assistance to start-up and existing diverse small businesses including minority, immigrant, veteran and women-owned business owners.
  • Vulnerable populations support that provides affordable housing or community services to vulnerable populations including lending for supportive housing, affordable senior housing and aging-in-place programs, home renovation and retrofit programs for persons with disabilities and housing and support for veterans.
