SANDAG is awarding a $90,000 active transportation grant to the City of Coronado to develop a comprehensive strategy to improve walking and biking amenities. As part of the grant application, the City of Coronado has committed to provide $90,000 in matching funds to complete the project.
Comprehensive Active Transportation Strategy
The Coronado Comprehensive Active Transportation Strategy (CATS) will help develop a complete multimodal transportation network in Coronado that accommodates the needs of all users and modes. The CATS will include a pedestrian master plan component, an updated bicycle master plan component, and the development of Safe Routes to School and traffic calming recommendations.
This grant was part of the $15 million awarded in smart growth and active transportation grants throughout San Diego Count to support a variety of projects that promote smart growth as well as walking, biking, and transit ridership. As part of the grant applications, the recipients have committed to provide the matching funds and complete the projects.
