Enterprise GIS can improve transportation system operations by saving time and money, and enabling better decisions.

The beauty of enterprise GIS is the ability to upload and share up-to-the-minute information and run analyses that can inform decisions. In short, timely data and the resulting impactful visuals help all transit departments to understand and see what is going on throughout a system—and at trouble spots.

In terms of costs, the nation’s 5th largest heavy rail in the United States, Bay Area Rapid Transit, is seeing a $3.11 return on every dollar invested in their enterprise GIS system, according to Travis Engstrom, BART’s manager of information systems.

BART’s data is accessible and available across all devices, enhancing communications amongst its various departments.
