Yankton’s Riverside Park Boundless Play Area project was recently approved for a $10,000 Kickstarter grant from the Wellness Foundation.

This project will consist of removing the current outdoor playground equipment and placing new ADA-accessible play equipment and rubber fall material. The city’s goal is to increase the use of the Riverside Park by children and adults with disabilities and special needs.

This Kickstarter grant will add to the city’s $40,000 National Park Service’s Land and Water Conservation Fund and the $150,000 the city has budgeted in 2017 for the project. The $200,000 will be used toward the purchasing of new equipment and playground surfacing.

Yankton’s Parks & Recreation Director Todd Larson was happy to receive the news about the Riverside Park Boundless Play Area being one of the projects chosen.
