The $1.5 trillion state, local and education (SLED) sector market are focused on improving productivity to reduce costs, and that includes outsourcing and lowering energy consumption to achieve these efficiency goals, according to the third annual Hotspots 2017 report by Onvia.
In their spending, SLED agencies are focused on safety of communities and services, the integrity and function of infrastructure and compliance with new requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), water quality and other laws.
Onvia analyzes more than 450,000 bids and awards annually across more than 4,000 market segments to identify the Top 10 Hotspots for Government Contracting. For 2017, those categories and their growth rates are:
- Medical equipment upgrades (21%)
- Education innovation (20%)
- Connectivity infrastructure / broadband (20%)
- Enabling Government with IT (17%)
- Smart lighting upgrades (15%)
- Disaster response / emergency preparedness / resilience (14%)
- Sire preparation (14%)
- Disabilities services / ADA (13%)
- Clean water / water infrastructure (12%)
- School bus outsourcing (10%)
