BRUNSWICK, GA. -- People with medical and other needs and no ability to evacuate for a storm are encouraged to register with a local county health department.

The Functional, Access and Medical Needs Registry is composed of residents who may need transportation and medical help during a hurricane evacuation and have no family, friends, neighbors or church members to help them, the Coastal Health District said in a news release.

The Health Evacuation Registry includes:

  • Children and adults with physical, sensory, mental health, cognitive or intellectual disabilities that affect their ability to function without help;
  • Individuals who require the support of medical professionals including those who may need help managing unstable, terminal or contagious conditions that require ongoing observation or treatment.
