Marion Elementary recently received two grants that will help the school improve the way that students learn and the campus where they learn.
The first grant was received by educator and media coordinator Jessica Mace. Mace applied for the Facebook Community Action grant earlier in 2015.
Through the program she received $6,000 to purchase new pieces of technology for students.
“I wrote the grant to be able to purchase a class set of iPads,” said Mace. “I wanted to have them in the library to improve school-wide literacy. Students use those iPads for reading and literacy rotations. We use them for the kids to create stories. We use them to read books online.”
Since the iPads have arrived, students have in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade have been able to use the tablets for class projects and for independent reading.
