Elementary School Receives Grant for One-On-One Tech

The grant enables the school to provide Chromebooks for its third- and fourth-grade students and iPads for students in kindergarten through second grade

A longtime connection between a Norfolk family and Jefferson Elementary School is translating into a huge leap forward for students there in terms of their access to technology.

A $60,000-plus grant has been given to the Norfolk Public Schools Foundation by what’s known as the Connie Fund, which is administered by family members of the late Connie Day, a former Nebraska legislator and businesswoman.

The grant will allow Jefferson to be the first elementary school in the district to initiate one-to-one technology — providing Chromebooks for each of its third- and fourth-grade students and iPads for students in kindergarten through second grade. In all, 181 devices were provided.
