Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s charitable organization has selected Louisville as one of eight cities that will receive part of a $42 million grant aimed at helping 100 midsize municipalities make better policy decisions using data and other evidence.
The “What Works Cities” initiative was launched in April to help mayors across the country address local challenges with innovative partners, including Results for America, the Center for Government Excellence at Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University’s Government Performance Lab.
Louisville was among 112 U.S. cities that applied for the grant, which allows for the city to receive expert training and peer-to-peer learning opportunities from those partners to make metro government more effective, Mayor Greg Fischer’s office said.
