Launch KC’s grant application window has closed, and the response surpassed the nonprofit’s goal by 25 percent.
Nearly 500 entrepreneurs from 17 states and eight countries applied for one of 10 $50,000 grants in Launch KC’s global grants competition.
“The bottom line is it’s not about the volume, it’s about the quality,” said Mike Hurd, director of marketing for Launch KC and the Downtown Council of Kansas City.
And the quality of applicants is “outstanding,” he said. The nonprofit plans to narrow down the applicants to 20 finalists this week.
