BOLTON - The town will be the recipient of another $362,000 installment in grant funding to complete another phase of Rogers Memorial Park upgrades.

The goal of the long-planned project broken into phases is to strengthen the connection between the lakefront and the business area along Lake Shore Drive.

The current phase under construction includes a new visitor center for the chamber, new restrooms, stormwater improvements and realignment of sidewalks to create better parking spaces on the street, among other improvements. That is all “on time and on budget,” said Supervisor Ron Conover, who hopes the project will be ready by June.

The visitor center, operated by the Bolton Chamber of Commerce, was built sometime in the 1940s, with an addition built in 1979.

“The museum project is not too far behind,” Conover said, referring to an expansion at the historical museum next to the park.

A mild fall and start to winter lent an ideal shoulder season for construction. The town awarded the work to the following low bidders in September: Hoosick Valley Contractors Inc. for $1.09 million for general constriction; Jack Hall Plumbing and Heating for $52,388 for plumbing and heating work; Jack Hall Plumbing and Heating for $28,678 for HVAC construction; and to CDE Electric, Inc. for $77,700 for electrical construction.
